San Juan Islands Trip

northwest tripAugust 21-30, 2011

This summer we had Aly, our god daughter, move in with us, and she was very excited to join us on our big summer camping trip. She also got to bring along a friend, Penny, for the first few days of the trip.

We started on Whidbey Island, first visiting friends, Claire and Marsha, in Langley, then camping for three nights at Deception Pass on the north end of the island.

We put Penny on a train back to Eugene, then continued on to San Juan Island, where we camped for three nights at Lakedale Resort. While there, we took a ferry over to Vancouver Island for the day and explored Victoria, BC.

It was a long drive from San Juan Island to our final spot, Waldo Lake -- with a quick stop in Seattle to have brunch with Tobi and see her new home there. We spent two nights at Waldo Lake, where we were joined by our neighbor, Kathleen, and her three-year-old granddaughter, Madison.

Itinerary

1.  Whidbey Island, Washington. One night visiting friends in Langely, then three nights at Deception Pass State Park Campground.

2.   San Juan Island, Washington. Three nights at Lake Dale Campground and restort, and one day trip by ferry to Victoria, British Columbia.

3.   Waldo Lake, Oregon. Two nights at our traditional favorite, where we met friends.
