Bryce Canyon, Utah

bridge to nowhereSeptember 22, 2008

Bryce Canyon is a landscape photographer's dream. The fascinating formations and red sandstone change with every angle and every shift of light.

Since we'd chosen to stay longer at Zion, our time at Bryce was short. We drove all the way in, stopping at every viewpoint for photos and a stretch.

It's hard to see just how huge these column formations are. The adventurous (and fit) can hike down to the canyon floor and walk among the stone giants. I spotted a few "ant people" from above and tried to imagine what that would feel like down there, far from the maddening tour-bus crowds above.

Maybe someday we'll come back and experience that.
