Holland Lake, Montana

While camping at Swan Lake, we drove 30 miles south for a day hike at Holland Lake. We took the 3-mile (roundtrip) hike up to Holland Falls, where dozens of chipmunks awaited snacks from our packs.

The lake and falls were beautiful, but our favorite find was Holland Lake Lodge, which was just down the dirt road from the trailhead. Built in 1947, the log cabin lodge was full of mountain charm. And the chocolate cake was the best I've ever had.

 

I don't know if or when we'll ever get back to this area, but if we do, a stay at this lodge would be heavenly!
